Once again, we are welcoming an artist as part of a residency organized by the Centre d'Art le Lait , a member of the Graulhet le cuir association , which allows selected individuals to be immersed for several weeks and to discover all the know-how around leather in order to appropriate it and produce a work.

Invited for the fourth edition of "The Art of Encounter," Romuald Jandolo will grapple with this new material, one he has never had the opportunity to work with before. Our workshop is one of those where he seeks—and finds—material to create. Romuald is thus preparing a generous exhibition that will unfold in two large spaces at the Maison des Métiers du Cuir (Leather Crafts House) in Graulhet , featuring immersive installations that will bring together ceramics, textile pieces, and leatherwork. From his childhood spent in the extended circus family, Romuald has retained an attraction to the spectacular and flamboyant. For this residency and exhibition in the Tarn region, he wishes to evoke Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec , as a "final, spectacular tribute to Toulouse-Lautrec," poised between fantasy and reality. Toulouse-Lautrec depicted women in situations "in-between" (between the moment of performance and more solitary intimacy). Similarly, Romuald wants to work with what is presented to us, and in his installation, he summons little-known or overlooked figures from the history of the circus (particularly Black women and artists). He questions what remains or reaches us, as well as the more intimate persistence of memories. Like Toulouse-Lautrec , Romuald Jandolo considers the body as a site of scenography, exploring the relationship to femininity with modesty and poetry. Plays on anachronisms and aesthetic connections between eras, references drawn from the worlds of the circus, performance, and religion, will transport visitors with humor and poetry into this unique universe. The exhibition showcasing this project will be held from June 14th at the Maison des Métiers du Cuir (House of Leather Crafts) and throughout the summer. And we're thrilled!
