(RE) FOCUS on Romuald Jandolo

We worked with Romuald as part of l’art de la rencontre #4 in 2024, led by Le centre d’art le Lait in Albi.

He returns to the artistic spotlight these days with a spectacular installation at the gymnase Japy in Paris, as part of Nuit Blanche 2026.

Romuald Jandolo’s installation Recoudre la nuit [Stitching the Night Back Together] transforms the night into a dreamlike space of memory, reappropriation, and metamorphosis. It extends the artist’s reflection on the shadows of history, figures of exclusion, and marginalized identities by bringing together a constellation of levitating silhouettes, topped with the ambivalent capirote, a cone originating from the rituals of Holy Week in Seville—at once signs of anonymity and penance, and symbols of authority and terror. Animated by disco ball motors in a space where rotation fragments light and blurs perceptions, these ghosts invite visitors to a procession, sketching a gesture of repair where, between dread and wonder, love unfolds as a force of displacement.
