During this festive season, here is a small, non-exhaustive selection of leather goods from all over the world that we at Bandit Manchot dream of.
Marvels of virtuosity, technical skill, imagination and beauty.
This selection will be expanded in Season 3, as there is a plethora of creative minds and artisans with golden fingers...
- If only one brand could be mentioned, it would be LOEWE, whose commitment to showcasing craftsmanship is truly impressive. LOEWE commissioned Spanish artisans from Galicia to restore and reinvent antique woven baskets from around the world, using leather and drawing inspiration from the Japanese concept of kintsugi , known for highlighting the history of repaired objects by enhancing their beauty.

- We never tire of their charms . Always incredibly creative and beautifully made. True little treasures ...

- However, it is essential to also mention BOTTEGA VENETTA, as their ongoing search for leather goods using all available techniques is insatiable. A few examples are shown below:

- Niki Jessup is a Canadian designer. She blends traditional leather and shoemaking techniques with technological tools. She advocates for the use of vegetable-tanned leather and transforms production waste to create new rigid materials used to sculpt heels for her shoes.

-
The Shazak workshop was founded in 2016. Sofia designs pieces for design, fashion, film, interior architecture, and contemporary art. We have selected two of her products here:

- Finally, we find POLÈNE's use of leather in its stores remarkable. It's used in giant mille-feuilles to create pedestals, or even knitted to make an extraordinary sofa.

- For our part, the most extraordinary thing we've ever done is these custom-made curtains for the Maison Michel boutique in London: an endless number of double-sided gold and silver leather strips. It was stressful because the bar was set high, enriching because we really had to rack our brains, and gratifying because the result is... fantastic!
