Get on board with the trend!
Whether it's simple curiosity, anticipation of a purchase, or the quest for a style free of fashion faux pas, we all dream of knowing what the trends will be this summer or next year. But who really decides on the materials, colors, and designs of the bags or clothes that will grace magazine covers, generate buzz on social media, or dictate the style of the accessories we'll buy tomorrow? Accustomed to traveling the world, scrutinizing new looks on the street, conversing with industry professionals, and exchanging ideas with sociologists, creators, designers, and trend experts, we find out. and their specialized companies guide the fashion industry in general. France excels in this area with internationally recognized agencies such as Nelly Rodi , Peclers Paris, and Carlin.
Style hunters!
These agencies deploy armies of " trend scouts " across the globe to sniff out fashions and identify emerging clothing trends in order to compile trend reports. These reports are then sold to designers, who find inspiration within them, and to all industries (furniture, automotive, etc.) that desperately need to anticipate consumer desires to remain competitive. Alongside these design studios, designers develop and cultivate their individual personalities to propose and establish their style, their unique vision of fashion, and to release two to four distinctive and recognizable collections each year that must appeal to the public.
Mission: Anticipation
Trade shows, which bring together hundreds of companies, also provide a fairly accurate barometer of current trends, just like fashion shows. who are investing in Paris and other major capitals to provide a concrete vision of what specialist shops and websites will be distributing next season.
All of these indicators give a general direction to the market and shed light on what we will be wearing this summer but also in 2024. It should be remembered that fashion companies most often work more than a year ahead of the commercial calendar.
The latest Parisian trade fairs Maison&Objet or Who's Next from last January are rich in lessons and allow for an interesting sociological reading that partly conditions the work of many creators.
Trends reflect our urgent needs
Bandit Manchot, present at Maison&Objet, shares here some of the creative intuitions staged by scenographer Elisabeth Leriche for the Spring Summer 2024 season. In a world that is becoming oppressive, she notes an urgent need for freshness, lightness, fresh air, a desire to escape the stifling promiscuity of cities and the urgency of freeing oneself from this confinement.
A need for nomadic, universal, multi-functional clothing and accessories (1). A new simplicity that responds to the pressing need to shed the superfluous and focus on the essential. Slowing down time, giving meaning back to purchases, rediscovering the beauty of the artisan's craft… A true demand in 2023 !

A necessary escape, a need to contemplate nature, to become one with the space, to meditate facing the sky, to marvel at the beauty of the colors of time, of the trees and of all this prodigious nature. Materials and colors become subtle and unfold their palette of browns, ochres, nudes and sands. (2).

The accessories come in an infinite variety in a bath of chlorophyll with a range of greens with regenerative properties (3).

The evanescent color of passing time – like a donkey-skin dress – gives free rein to a range of shimmering frosted leathers, immaculate powdery whites like a purifying challenge to the city air (4)

The animal world is not to be outdone! (false) Lizards, snakes, pythons invite us on an exotic but motionless journey where the nostalgia for a world in extinction takes on the colors of hope and dares to use turquoise blues or sparkling gold (5)

Season after season, the inexhaustible evolution of creation
The fact remains that the world of designers enchants us with its remarkable ability to make us dream and embark us on new journeys and new desires. Each season, like nature, design undergoes a transformation and reinvents itself. New offerings emerge to reveal its warm and vibrant colors. Crossovers, tote bags, shopping bags, and satchels captivate us with the energy and originality of their iridescent materials, their glossy textures, their embossed, screen-printed, or upcycled leathers (6).

Being interested in trends is a state of mind, a snapshot of our ever-changing society. It's about having fun understanding the world we live in through the lens of culture, whether it's anecdotal, frivolous, joyful, or serious. And never taking ourselves too seriously.
